Why Rotating LED Clocks Are Dangerous – And a Safer Alternative

Rotating LED clocks create time displays through a fast‑spinning arm with LED lights (persistence of vision). This design has an inherent safety flaw: high‑speed rotating parts can break, fling debris, or injure curious fingers. A mechanical push‑pull clock has no rotating exposed elements. All movement is linear and contained inside the housing. The telescopic segments move slowly (<10mm/s) and with low force, posing no danger to children or pets. Additionally, rotating clocks fail in bright rooms because the POV effect washes out. The Xiguizi clock remains perfectly visible under any lighting, and its wooden frame adds no mechanical risk.
